LBW Community College welcomes Chad Duffell as the newly appointed campus police officer.
Duffell is a graduate of Opp High School and attended Southwest Alabama Police Academy and the Alabama Corrections Academy. He is certified by Alabama’s Peace Officer’s Standards and Training and is also trained in rapid response to active shooter.
“Officer Duffell joins our staff as a seasoned veteran in law enforcement,” said LBW President Dr. Brock Kelley.
“Although we have not had any acts of violence, safety and security are of the highest priority at LBW and his presence on all campuses will provide a service that LBW has never had.”
Duffell has more than twenty years of experience in positions such as Patrol Officer for the City of Opp, Sherriff’s Deputy for Covington County, and Safety Director for MSJ/Buddy Moore Trucking.
“Part of my job at the system office as a law enforcement liaison is to help colleges build police departments,” said chief of police at Jefferson State Community College and interim chief of police at LBW, Mark Bailey.
“Chad’s experience and background make him well suited for the campus police department at LBW.”
Duffell joined the College staff on October 4 and he currently covers the Andalusia, Greenville, Luverne and Opp locations.
“We plan to expand our department in the near future with an additional officer,” Kelley added.
