The Covington County Compass Club at LBW Community College has received top international recognition, earning two First Place awards at the 2025 Pilot International Convention & Leadership Conference held July 23-27 in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The club was honored with the Compass Outstanding Community Service Award and the Outstanding Compass Club Award, which recognize exemplary service efforts and overall excellence among Compass Clubs worldwide.
Club Advisor Maggie Mash, Club President Kayley Peebles, and Secretary Isangelic Reyes attended the international event and accepted the awards on behalf of the LBW chapter during a formal ceremony on July 26. The awards were presented by 2024–2025 Pilot International President Nickola Dawkins.
“This recognition reflects the heart and hard work of our student members,” said Maggie Mash, Compass Club advisor at LBW. “They have shown what it means to lead with purpose, serve with compassion, and stay committed to improving the lives of others.”
The Compass Club is a student division of Pilot International, a global organization focused on preparing youth and young adults for service leadership. As part of the international convention, attendees also participated in "CompassCon," a dedicated track for Compass Club leaders, which offered leadership development and networking with peers from across the U.S. and abroad.
“Our Compass Club continues to raise the bar for what young leaders can achieve,” said Mellisa King, president of the Pilot Club of Andalusia. “We are incredibly proud to see their efforts recognized on the international stage. These students are the future of Pilot.”
LBW President Dr. Brock Kelley also commended the club’s achievements.

“Our students continue to represent LBW Community College with excellence, both at home and beyond,” Kelley said. “We are proud of the Compass Club’s well-deserved recognition and thankful for their commitment to service and leadership.”
Additionally, Peebles and Reyes were awarded the Dreams Ahead Leadership Grant to support members with leadership development opportunities.
The Covington County Compass Club is sponsored by the Pilot Club of Andalusia and provides opportunities for LBW students to develop leadership skills through volunteerism and civic engagement. For more information about joining the Compass Club at LBW, contact Maggie Mash at maggie@lbwcc.edu.
