September 09, 2026

Lurleen B. Wallace (LBW) Community College has named Stacey Harrell program director and instructor for the Physical Therapist Assistant Program at the Greenville Campus.

A 1992 LBW alumnus who attended on a drama scholarship, Harrell returns to his hometown college with a strong background in healthcare, education, and leadership. He earned his PTA degree from Bishop State Community College in 1995 and a Bachelor of Science in Ministry from Southern Christian University in 2000. He is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Leadership at South University.

Harrell brings extensive clinical and organizational experience across inpatient, outpatient, skilled nursing, and home health settings throughout South Alabama. He also has teaching experience at the university level and currently serves as a minister at Georgiana Church of Christ.

“I’m honored to return to LBW and help continue building one of the premier PTA programs in the region,” Harrell said. “This is a full-circle moment, and I’m excited to support our students and the communities we serve.”

"Stacey brings a unique blend of clinical experience, teaching expertise, and leadership that will greatly benefit our students and the future of the PTA program," said Dr. Shannon Levitzke, Dean of Instruction at LBW. "His passion for helping others, combined with his deep ties to our region and to LBW, make him an excellent fit to lead the program and prepare the next generation of physical therapist assistants."

The Physical Therapist Assistant Program prepares students for careers working under the direction and supervision of physical therapists in a variety of healthcare settings. For more information about the PTA Program at LBW, visit lbwcc.edu.
