Lurleen B. Wallace Community College (LBW) is proud to announce outstanding student success at the 2025–26 Alabama Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Collegiate Virtual State Leadership Conference (SLC). Multiple LBW students earned top placements in a wide range of competitive business events, qualifying them to advance to the prestigious National Leadership Conference (NLC).
FBLA Collegiate competitive events are designed to recognize and reward excellence across business, leadership, and career-related fields while allowing students to apply classroom knowledge in real-world, simulated environments. These events span areas such as accounting, marketing, cybersecurity, communication, and management, helping students develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and professional skills essential for future careers.

FBLA competitions include a variety of formats such as objective tests, case studies, presentations, and role-play scenarios. Many events such as Business Law, Marketing, and Ethics require students to demonstrate both technical knowledge and the ability to apply concepts to real-world business situations.
Students who place at the state level qualify to compete at the National Leadership Conference, where top competitors from across the country gather to showcase their skills, network with industry professionals, and further develop their career readiness.
LBW’s continued success in FBLA highlights the college’s commitment to experiential learning and career preparation. Through participation in FBLA, students gain hands-on experience that bridges the gap between classroom instruction and real-world business application.
“We are incredibly proud of our students for their hard work and dedication,” said Hanna Thrower, Business Instructor and LBW FBLA advisor. “Their success reflects not only their talent but also their commitment to excellence and leadership here at LBW.”
The students will represent LBW and the state of Alabama at the FBLA Collegiate National Leadership Conference, competing on a national stage.
