LBW Agreement with Georgia Highlands College

November 06, 2024

Starting in spring 2025, students at Lurleen B. Wallace Community College (LBW) in Alabama may complete an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Building Construction and be eligible to enroll in the Bachelor of Science in Building Information Modeling and Management program at Georgia Highlands College (GHC).

This Agreement will allow students enrolled at LBW who complete an AAS in Building Construction to transfer at least 50 credit hours into the BS in Building Information Modeling and Management degree.

“GHC was granted tuition waivers for Alabama, so these students don’t need to apply through the marketplace in order to receive in-state tuition,” GHC Dean of STEM Jason Christian said. “And since BIMM can be completed 100% online, the students would not need to relocate in order to complete the degree.”

The BIMM program at GHC will prepare students for a number of careers in the engineering and construction industry. Students will learn the skills to become BIM Managers, Detailers, Designers, BIM Engineers and many more related opportunities. In addition, the degree will help the engineering and construction industry overcome labor shortages.

“We are excited about this partnership with GHC and the opportunities it affords to our students,” LBW Dean of Instruction Dr. Shannon Levitzke said. “The articulation agreement provides an accessible, cost-efficient degree option and ensures that students enrolled in Building Construction have multiple pathways for entering the workforce.”

Current students and incoming students from Alabama now pay the in-state tuition rate of $101 per credit hour at GHC.

This November, students can enroll at GHC with no admission fee for the spring, summer and fall 2025 semesters as part of No Fee November. Apply today at apply.highlands.edu
