LBW Community College is excited to announce the hiring of Connor Williams as the new head coach of the Saints women’s basketball team. Williams brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success at both the high school and collegiate levels.
“I’m thrilled to be joining the saints family as the head women’s basketball coach at LBW,” Williams said. “The opportunity to lead this program is a chance to give back to and represent an area that has given me so much. There is unlimited potential here and I am excited to shake things up in this conference and build a brand of basketball that represents LBW in an exemplary way.”
Originally from Chattanooga, Tennessee, and a 2016 graduate of Paxton High School in Florida, Williams played on the 2016 FHSAA Class 1A state runner-up team. He also earned an associate in arts degree through dual enrollment at Northwest Florida State College in the same year.
Williams went on to the University of West Florida, where he served as student manager for the women’s basketball team and was named the 2019 Usha Kundu College of Health Fitness and Sport Coaching Student of the Year. He was part of a coaching staff that helped lead the team to a Gulf South Conference regular season title and an NCAA Division II Elite Eight appearance in 2017.
His coaching résumé includes time as assistant coach at Gulf Coast State College and Morehead State University, where he also served as recruiting coordinator. At the high school level, Williams most recently led Crestview High School to the 2023 District 1 FHSAA 6A Championship and was named the 2023 Northwest Florida Daily News Girls Basketball Coach of the Year. His teams at Central School and Crestview posted program-best records and made historic playoff appearances under his leadership.
“I want to thank LBW President Dr. Brock Kelley, Athletic Director Steve Helms, Assistant Athletic Director Brandon Ware, and the rest of the hiring committee for the opportunity and their belief in me and my ability to lead this program,” Williams said. “I’d also like to thank my former athletic directors, coaches, and mentors for pouring into me and allowing me to grow in this industry. Lastly, I’d like to thank my family for their love and support throughout this process. Having the guidance and wisdom of my dad, who’s a longtime high school and college coach, has been instrumental to me.”
Williams holds a bachelor’s degree in fitness and sport coaching from the University of West Florida and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in sports performance.
“We are excited to welcome Coach Williams to LBW,” said Steve Helms, athletic director. “His energy, passion for the game, and strong commitment to player development will be an asset to our program and our student-athletes.”
