ACMS brings Four Seasons Brass to Andalusia
October 07, 2019
The Andalusia Chamber Music Society (ACMS), an outreach program of the LBW Community College music department, is bringing back Four Seasons Brass for an encore performance in Andalusia.
The fall 2019 concert is 7 p.m. on Oct. 24 at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 1307 East Three Notch St., in Andalusia.
“The concert is free for LBWCC students, $5 for service area school students, and $15 for adults,” said Johnny Brewer, ACMS co-founder, LBWCC music faculty, and member of Four Seasons Brass.
The group first performed in Andalusia in 2016.
“We are playing a good mix of music for this concert, including a piece called ‘October’ by American composer Eric Whitacre,” said Brewer. “’October’ is one of those pieces that so perfectly captures the subject matter of the piece. In this case, the nature of autumn and the changes that come with the season. It’s one of the most beautiful pieces of music I’ve ever played.”
The concert is made possible, in part, by a grant from the John H. and Grace McMillan Estep Charitable Foundation.
“We invite everyone who enjoys music and anyone who plays, or has played, a brass instrument in the school band or Ensemble. This is a great opportunity to hear a high-level of mastery of their instrument with a wide range of musical expressiveness.”
Tickets are available at the door prior to the event. For more information, call 334.881.2238.
