Whether motivated to make a difference or simply to make friends, you can distinguish yourself at LBW by taking an active role in campus life from the moment you arrive.
Colleges of all sizes require leaders to plan and stage events, to compete on the playing fields, and to govern their campuses. Among the many advantages of a community college, however, are plentiful opportunities for leadership that are open to all who seek them. At LBW, you'll come to know leadership firsthand when you experience it in multiple contexts - social, athletic and academic.
With more than 20 student-run organizations and clubs, LBW offers plenty of opportunities to get involved and have fun. Just take a look at some of our student life offerings:

The LBWCC Ambassadors is an honorary position for full-time students. They serve as the official hosts for campus and community events on the Andalusia, Opp and Greenville campuses. Eligible students must complete a Traditional Institutional scholarship application, write an essay, submit two letters of recommendation and participate in an interview. Ambassadors receive a scholarship for $1500 per semester.

Christian Student Ministries
This organization is a non-denominational Christian union of students who meet weekly to share Bible study and are devoted to share the love of Jesus Christ through outreach projects on campus and around the community. During the meetings, members discuss club business and spend time in prayer. Membership in the CSM is easily obtained: simply come to a meeting. There are no dues or fees. CSM centers on a real family atmosphere and includes people from a variety of backgrounds and denominations.

Civitan is a volunteer service organization. Organized in 1917, Civitan now has 50,000 men, women and young people in clubs throughout North America, Europe & Asia. Campus Civitan is a program of Civitan International that offers college students a means of personal enhancement and a better understanding of the value of community service. The LBW Civitan Club dates back to 1969. Civitan members are individuals who desire to learn and share with their fellow students and their community. To become a member of LBW Civitan, one must complete an approved application form. Anyone is welcome to visit the meeting and ask a current member to sponsor him or her. There are annual dues outlined by Civitan International.

Make lifelong friends. Impact your community. Compass International is the young professional division of Pilot International. Compass is a community-based service organization for ages 18-26. This organization works closely with the Pilot Club of Andalusia, the sponsor club. Compass Club provides young adults with the opportunity to be a valuable part of the community. Members serve as volunteers in community service projects, develop leadership skills and advance personal and professional goals.

The LBW Ensemble is a show choir and band performance group consisting of 21 students. The Ensemble performs for elementary, middle and high schools in the college's service area. In addition, they perform for civic clubs and college events (even at Disney World in Orlando!). Auditions are held in March of each year, and scholarships are awarded for LBW tuition and fees.

The FIT Club is an organization that promotes health, wellness and performance for all LBW students. The club will educate students on a healthy lifestyle, exercise and good eating habits, and will provide opportunities to improve fitness. Membership is open to all currently enrolled students.

Mu Alpha Theta is an organization that promotes scholarship in and enjoyment of mathematics among college students. Students must have a "B" average in all college work and have made at least a "B" in college algebra to be invited to join MAT. High school students who are already members of MAT may have their membership transferred to the LBW organization. The major function is to offer an annual math tournament in February of each year. MAT has a "once a member, always a member" policy.

National Technical Honor Society
The National Technical Honor Society on the MacArthur campus was chartered in October 1997, and seeks to recognize technical students with high achievements. The NTHS promotes the ideals of honesty, service, leadership and skill development among America's future workforce. We enhance these characteristics in our members through leadership opportunities with the Society, service projects sponsored by the Society, and a strong emphasis on maintaining high academic standards. Members must meet several criteria; therefore, membership is by invitation only.

Phi Theta Kappa is the honor society of the two-year college system and recognizes those students who excel academically. There are more than 1,000 chapters nationwide. LBW's Andalusia chapter is Alpha Beta Eta, and the the Greenville chapter is Beta Pi Nu. Requirements are achievement of a 3.5 GPA or above, full-time student, good citizenship and high moral standards. Those students who make the Dean's List are sent an invitation to attend an orientation session to learn about the organization and its many projects and activities. Those who meet all the requirements for membership and who complete the application process are initiated into the organization in a formal ceremony. PTK does not only recognize academic excellence; it is also very active in four hallmarks: leadership, scholarship, service and fellowship.

The BBC is a volunteer group of students who serve as spirit leaders for all LBW athletic teams. Throughout the year, the BBC raises money to provide encouragement to our student athletes. Activities include fundraisers, providing concessions at athletic events, making goodie bags for athletes, pep rallies and Spirit Week.

SkillsUSA is a nationwide association for students and teachers in public vocational/technical programs and the businesses that employ them. SkillsUSA offers prestige and recognition through awards and contests. Included in the organization are co-curricular activities that give students more than occupational skill development; these activities make education and training more meaningful.

The LBW SGA represents the concerns and needs of the student body. It works to promote goodwill and understanding between faculty and students, to provide leadership on student concerns, and to act as a liaison between students and the administration. Student Veterans & Military Association
The purpose of this club is the promote the general welfare of veterans and the dependents of veterans who attend LBW, and to continue to serve our country by contributing to the betterment of the LBW community. All veteran students and dependents of veterans are eligible to join this organization.

2023-2024 Miss LBW Pageant Criteria
- This pageant will be sponsored and organized by the LBW SGA.
- There will be an informational meeting in the Andalusia Student Center classroom on Thursday, September 21, 2023.
- This pageant will serve as a preliminary competition to the Miss Volunteer Alabama pageant.
- All female LBW students ages 17-26 are eligible to participate.
- Contestants must complete and submit an application to the program director by Wednesday, October 18, 2023.
- Contestants must participate in all areas of competition that comprise their final score:
- Interview 40% (morning)
- Talent 20% (afternoon)
- Wellness 20% (evening)
- Self-Expression 20% (evening)
- Contestants should have at least a 2.0 GPA and be in good standing as a full-time LBWCC student.
- Contestants must attend every rehearsal as scheduled by the program director. If a participant is unable to attend, she must let the Director know asap.
- The top four talent winners as selected by the judges will perform during the pageant.
- Each contestant will have 90 seconds to present their talent, from start of music to end note.
- The winners will receive the following (all awards are subject to change at the discretion of the Pageant Director):
- Ms. LBW will receive a crown and sash provided by Elán Formals, roses and an applicable tuition waiver to LBWCC. She will also receive a bid to the Miss Volunteer Alabama pageant to be held in July 2024 (this is not a requirement).
- First runner-up will receive a gift and roses.
- Second runner-up will receive a gift and roses.
- The Talent, Interview, Fitness and Self-Expression winners will receive a gift.
- The Pageant Committee will consist of a Director, Choreographer, Judge’s Chair, host and SGA members.

The Tennis Club, which has recently been reorganized and reenergized, is an opportunity for LBW students to play tennis at every level. Beginners to advanced-level players are invited to enjoy the game of Tennis. Beginning Fall 2024, the tennis club plans to meet on Tuesday afternoons for ‘Tennis Tuesday’ on the College courts.

The NEW! LBW Bass Fishing Team will fish the BASS, ACA, and MLF tours. We will be staying Alabama based until we grow into a national role. Entry fee and lodging will be reimbursed for the top boat from our LBW club. Once the team grows, it will be Top 2 reimbursed. The team will be fishing against all colleges in the state, not just community colleges.
In order to participate, you must:
1) Be a full-time LBW student.
2) Have a tour-approved boat or be a partner with someone who does have a boat.
3) Provide transportation for you and your boat to each tournament.
4) Carry insurance.
5) Turn in a Bass tournament resume of all tournaments fished.
6) Participate in fundraising.

Athletics
LBW is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) for Men's and Women's basketball, baseball, softball, Women's volleyball, Men's & Women's cross country, Men's & Women's golf, and Women's Flag Football.
Fine Arts
On LBW's Andalusia Campus, there is an Art Program that offers courses in drawing, painting, two dimensional designs and three dimensional designs. We also have a Dramatic Arts Program, as well as Music Performance courses.
Social Activities
There are a variety of events held each year in which LBW students are encouraged to participate. The events include "Saints Under the Stars," resource & job fairs, fundraisers, leadership events, the Miss LBW Pageant, Saints Days, student lunches, educational programs, holiday parties, special performances, and LBW Ensemble concerts in the Dixon Center for the Performing Arts.
