Circulation: All materials except reference books and journals circulate and are located in open stacks. Currently registered LBWCC students may check out books for 28 days with one renewal. Overdue notices are emailed for materials not returned by the due date. The LBWCC library has cooperative lending and borrowing agreements with the Greenville-Butler County Public Library, Opp Public Library and the Luverne Public Library.

Library Catalog: Students, faculty and staff may access the holdings of the LBWCC libraries. Materials may be searched for by author, title, subject, or keyword. The catalog offers users the ability to manage his or her own library account.

Interlibrary Loan: Books and periodical articles which are unavailable in the LBWCC library holdings may be borrowed from another library in the state free of charge. Requests can be made at the Circulation Desk in the Library or at this link. Due dates are set by the lending library. Renewals are subject to approval from the lending library.

Laptop Loan Program: Currently registered students may borrow laptops. Students wanting to borrow a laptop must:

• be a currently enrolled student with no holds on their record.
• provide a state issued photo ID when picking up the laptop.
• read, understand, and abide by all LBWCC policies as found on the “LBWCC Laptop Loan Agreement”.  A signature is acknowledgement.      
• submit a Laptop Request Form.

• To request a laptop submit a Laptop Loan Request Form. Laptop requests will not be accepted until the first day of the semester.

Reserves: Instructors may place items on reserve for student use. These materials are located at the Circulation desk in the library. Loan periods are set by the Instructor. Viewing equipment for audio-visual materials is available in the library.

eBooks: To view the Library's eBook collection, go to the Alabama Virtual Library. Click on the EbscoHost link under the "View All Resources" tab. Click on the "Choose Databases" link next to the search box. Remove each of the check marks by the checked items and check the ebook collection box. Click Ok and enter your search terms in the search box.

Reference: Instruction in using the library’s resources is provided to both classes and individuals. One-on-one assistance is available to students, faculty, and staff. Requests may be emailed to the librarian at hcarter@lbwcc.edu or by phone at 334-881-2266.

Online Resources: The Alabama Virtual Library offers 24-hour access to thousands of reliable resources including full-text journals, reference books, and encyclopedias. The AVL may be accessed from anywhere within the state without a password. For access to the databases when traveling outside of the state, a username and password will be necessary and can be obtained by calling the library at 334.881.2265 or by emailing to library@lbwcc.edu.

Periodicals: A small in-house collection of current magazines and newspapers is available for casual reading in the library.

Internet: Internet access is available to all students from the workstations in the library. For students who own their computers, wireless access is also available. It is the responsibility of the student to read, understand and abide by the institution’s acceptable use policy. Copies of the policy may be found in the Student Handbook.

Food And Drinks: Only drinks with a spill-proof lid are allowed in the library. Snack foods such as cookies or crackers are permitted. Fast-food or foods with a strong aroma are prohibited. Food and drinks are not allowed at any LBWCC computer station. Violating the food and drink policy can result in a loss of library privileges. 

Cell Phones: Please silence all cell phones and devices before entering the LBWCC libraries.

Student IDs: New LBW students will have their IDs made during orientation in their campus' library. Lost or replacement IDs can be made in the Andalusia Campus Library Monday-Thursday from 8:00am-3:00pm. Students of other campus locations can make special arrangements to have a new ID made by calling Hugh Carter at 334-881-2266. Student numbers are required for all IDs.

Tobacco: LBWCC is a smoke-free environment.

If you would like the library to obtain a book, magazine or newspaper article, or any other resource for you via InterLibrary loan, submit an Interlibrary Loan Request. If we are able to obtain fulfill your request we will contact you by email to let you know where you can pick it up.

LBWCC Laptop Loan Program

Students needing a computer to attend classes, complete assignments, or to take tests may borrow a laptop from the LBW Library's Laptop Loan Program. The laptops are only for school-related purposes, and no software shall be installed or any files saved to the laptop's hard drive. Students will be held financially responsible for damaged, lost, or stolen laptops.

There is a limited amount of laptops. Laptops are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

To borrow a laptop LBW students must:

Plagiarism is presenting someone else's thoughts, words, or ideas in one's own work without permission from or without crediting the original author. Plagiarism is a violation of the Student Conduct Code (CODE) and students could face disciplinary action. (Student Handbook 2022-2023)
