Instructional methods are based on individual student's needs and may include one-on-one tutoring, group instruction, and computer-based instructional programs. ADULT BASIC EDUCATION
LBWCC provides free Adult Education services to help students become career ready. Classes provide a second opportunity for adult learners committed to improving their academic and life skills. Instruction is based on individual student need and may range from one-on-one tutoring to group instruction. Classes are available throughout Butler, Covington, and Crenshaw counties. Students 16 years of age and older may participate in the program. Our classes are open entry and open exit. Students work at their own pace rather than in accordance with a set term limit.
Let LBWCC's Adult Education Program assist you in earning your GED or a high school diploma, through Alabama's High School Diploma Options Program (HSDO), or study and prepare for the GED!
LBWCC's College Prep assistance is a free program that helps students strengthen their academic skills and prepare to enter into post-secondary education.
Want to earn College Credit while completing your GED or Alabama High School Diploma? Career Pathways is a program that enables participants an opportunity to attend LBWCC Technical classes and the Adult Education program while they work to improve their academic skill level or work to earn a high school diploma or its recognized equivalent. The core of Career Pathways is “Integrated Education and Training (IET)”, which includes adult basic education, workforce preparation, and occupational skill instruction. Courses offered as a Career Pathways may include: Welding, Certified Medical Assistant, Dental Assistant, Pharmacy Technician, Veterinary Assistant, Cosmotology, Automotive Mechanics, Diesel and Heavy Equipment Mechanics, and Medical Coding programs.
