2024 LBW Mascot Appearance Guidelines
The following guidelines have been established to help identify the types of events that “Blue” will attend. This has been created with the classroom obligations of the student-mascot in mind, as well as their personal schedules.
- Blue will attend at least two each LBW home basketball, softball, baseball and volleyball games that occur during the academic year.
- Requests for all appearances must be submitted via our electronic request form.
- The length of the mascot’s appearance should be less than one hour, and Blue should only be in costume for a maximum of 20 minutes before a mandatory break, especially during times of high heat and humidity.
- Blue will attend institutional orientations, recruitment events, Homecoming, summer camp, Saints Days, alumni events and other LBW events as requested by the President and/or marketing team.
- Every effort will be made to limit the scheduled appearances to a maximum of two per week, to ensure that these events don’t adversely affect the academic performance of the student-mascot.
- Priority will be given to official college events. If approved, all off-campus events must provide a secure break/changing area for (name).
- Blue must be accompanied by an LBW Ambassador at all times.
- Private events (such as birthday parties, weddings, etc.) or promotional events will not be considered for an appearance.
- Blue makes appearances for no charge, other than applicable gas mileage if the appearance is outside LBW’s service area. Please refer to the current Alabama State Rate per mile for gas.
