What Is Student Support Services (SSS)?

 

 LBWCC's Student Support Services Program (SSS), is a federally funded TRIO Program for the U.S. Department of Education. The SSS Program offers free services and support to qualified college students attending Lurleen B. Wallace Community College. The program is committed to assisting college students succeed by offering a wide range of academic, cultural, and social activities, assistance with college requirements, supplemental instruction, tutorial services, mentoring, basic study skills and other activities that motivate students to complete post secondary education.

 

The wide range of activites provided by the program include:

  • Academic, financial and personal counseling

  • Assistance in securing admission and financial aid for enrollment at LBWCC

  • Career exploration

  • Cultural/social events and field trips

  • Transfer assistance

  • Direct financial assistance to current participants who are receiving Federal Pell Grant

  • Mentoring

  • Laptop Computer Usage

  • Study skills assessments and instruction

  • Tutorial services

  • Workshops and seminar

 

LBWCC's Student Support Services Program has been awarded a five year grant.
