Trio Programs

 

Lurleen B. Wallace Community College, in cooperation with th U.S. Department of Education TRIO initiative, has established supportive services for students and community persons on several levels.

 

The Student Support Services Program promotes retention, graduation and transfer by providing counseling, advising, career information, transfer information, financial aid assistance and tutorial services to college students from low income and/or first generation college homes. The Upward Bound Program is a highly successful, college-based program of rigorous academic instruction, individual tutoring and counseling for low-income, disadvantage high school students (grades 10-12) most of whom are the first generation of their families to consider post-secondary education.
