Philosophy:

The staff of the Lurleen B. Wallace Child Development Center believes that each child is a unique and special individual with unlimited potential for joy, happiness, and personal fulfillment. We believe that the first duty of the child development center staff is to provide a safe and healthy environment for learning. In this safe and healthy environment, your child will have many opportunities to develop physically, mentally, socially, and emotionally.

The purposes of the Center are:

  • For Children -  to provide experiences for the development of the whole child through total involvement in a safe, happy, and stimulating environment.

  • For Parents - to provide a safe, happy, learning environment in which to place your children.

  • For LBWCC Child Development Students - to provide a high quality learning experience for future child care specialists.

The goals of the Child Development Center are to:

  1. Provide a safe and healthy environment for your children.

  2. Provide opportunities for children to:
        - develop and enhance a good self-image
        - develop listeniing and speaking skills
        - become independent
        - promote natural creativity and imagination
        - learn to become a part of a community of learners

  3. Assist student-parents by providing quality care for their children while they are enrolled at LBWCC.

 Curriculum

At the LBWCC Child Development Center, we believe that children learn best in a setting where they are allowed to be active learners. We use a variety of materials and methods to meet the individual needs of your child. The environment provides many opportunities daily for your child to develop physical, mental, emotional, and social skills. We believe that play serves a vital role in each child's learning. All activities for children are designed to be developmentally appropriate for preschool children.

Give your child a great start at the LBWCC Child Development Center!
