- Students must be enrolled full-time (12 credit hours) to receive the maximum federal financial Aid.
- If students are enrolled less-than full-time then their Pell Grant is prorated accordingly and may be cancelled.
- Pell Grant will not pay for courses not required by the program of study/major.
- Pell Grant will pay for repeated courses, however there is a limit on redial courses.
- Pell Grant will not pay for items in the bookstore that are not required in the student’s program of study.
- Students who withdraw from all classes are not eligible to receive a balance refund check until the Return of Title IV calculation has taken place. The student may be eligible for a post withdrawal disbursement after that calculation has taken place. This process is in the best interest of the student to assure they will only pay back a minimal amount of funds.
- Pell Grant refunds are disbursed 14 days after the last day of drop add (date published in the Financial Aid Payment Schedule.)
- Most cash scholarships and PACT will pay for courses that are not required for program of study/major.
- A schedule is posted by the Bookstore each semester giving dates when books and supplies may be applied to financial aid.
- Students may check their financial aid at any time by logging on to www.lbwcc.edu. They can look at their financial aid summary by utilizing student services module, using their student number and PIN code.
- Students who register for classes that do not begin the first day of the regular semester, and those classes change their enrollment status, may not be eligible to receive refund balances until the class has met and attendance has been verified.
- Lurleen B. Wallace Community College does not participate in any student loan programs.
- Students receiving SEOG/ASAP funds are awarded on a first-come first serve basis. Funds are limited and award amounts vary.
WIA/ and Vocational Rehabilitation
- Students are required to submit their schedule and grades to their counselor at these state agencies. Students can access their transcripts and schedules at www.lbwcc.edu.
- Award amounts vary depending on programs of study and requirements of agency funding the award.
Academic Competitiveness Grant
- Must apply for Pell Grant at www.fafsa.gov.
- Must be enrolled in at least half time
- Must be in their first or second academic year of a degree or certificate program. (Certificate program must be at least one year in length).
- First -year students must have completed high school on or after January 1, 2006
- Second-year students must have completed high school on or after January 1, 2005
- All AC Grant students must have completed a rigorous high school program of study (Advanced/Honors Diploma) or a set of courses as designated by their state; and
- For a second-year AC Grant, students must have a grade point average (GPA) from their first year of at least a 3.0 and be classified as a Sophomore.

- Priority Deadline Date is June 1st of each year. The Financial Aid Award year begins Fall Semester and ends the following Summer Semester. To ensure timely processing, students are encouraged to complete the FAFSA as soon as income information is available, usually after taxes have been filed.
- Applications must be received by the Financial Aid Office by the following dates to be processed by registration for each term.
o Fall - June 1st of each year.
o Spring – October 1st of each year.
o Summer – March 1st of each year.
- Applications received after these dates may not be processed by registration and it will be the student’s responsibility to pay for their tuition before the first day of class or wait until the next semester begins.
