Institutional Effectiveness Committee

   

  

Purpose Statement:   The Institutional Effectiveness Committee is responsible for the oversight of planning, assessment, and evaluation of the institutional effectiveness process at LBWCC. The committee advises the President on the implementation and evaluation of the strategic planning process. The committee ensures Lurleen B. Wallace Community College identifies expected outcomes for its functional areas, general and technical education programs, and administrative and education support services.  The committee assesses whether the college achieves these outcomes and will provide evidence of improvement based on analysis of those results.

Term Limit:  Term renews annually

Approximately ten members, the Institutional Effectiveness Committee (IEC) provides broad representation from the College community.

Charge:   The Institutional Effectiveness Committee (IEC) will validate that Lurleen B. Wallace Community College engages in ongoing, integrated, and institution-wide research-based planning and evaluation processes. These processes will incorporate a systematic review of programs and services that will result in continuous improvement and demonstrate that the institution is effectively accomplishing its mission.   This will involve, but not be limited to:

·         Selecting and evaluating appropriate instruments and processes necessary for assessing the outcomes identified in the Institutional Effectiveness Plan.

·         Providing assistance for continuous assessment and improvement in each functional area of the college through the development and implementation of a purpose statement and expected institutional and educational outcomes.

·         Assisting functional areas of the college in the process of choosing and evaluating assessment designs appropriate to their mission within the college.

 

 


Responsibilities of the IEC:

         1.       Evaluate the strategic planning processes to ensure the focus, role and scope are appropriate to the institution

2.       Review assessment data to determine the effectiveness of the College’s strategic objectives

 

3.       Review and report progress toward the accomplishment of Strategic Goals and ultimately the College’s mission

 

4.       Establish systems to gather data and input from internal and external sources and evaluate findings

 

5.       Establish a system to do trend analysis, both internal and external, and evaluate the impact of trends on the college

 

6.       Monitor the annual plans developed by College units to ensure they are consistent with the mission of the college and units’ purpose statement; that they address, where applicable, College strategic goals and objectives, expected outcomes, student learning outcomes, that plans are developed using valid data and assessment criteria, that assessment is a part of the planning process, and that the use of data results are a natural outflow of the evaluation.

 Membership: 

·         The committee is chaired by the Director of Institutional Effectiveness & Quality

·         One staff member to represent the following administrative functional area or unit/department:

·         Instructional and Information Technology

·         Financial Affairs

·         Instructional Services

·         Student Affairs

·         Human Resources

·         College Facilities & Maintenance

·         Institutional Effectiveness

·         Two faculty representatives:   One Technical Faculty Representative and One Academic Faculty Representative
