Tegrity Information

Welcome to the Lurleen B. Wallace Community College Tegrity Campus 2.0 page. This page explains the many benefits of Tegrity Campus 2.0.

Every class for every student – anytime, anywhere
Students rely on Tegrity, knowing they can go back and review their classes from anywhere, at anytime using a web browser, iPod, or mobile device. Tegrity is the only scalable lecture capture system available today, built as a web-service and designed to make the lecture capture process - throughout the entire campus - completely automatic. Every class, captured on or off campus, is automatically stored and indexed within the right course for enrolled students to access securely, alleviating pressure on IT staff to support multiple, disparate technologies for individual classrooms and departments. Tegrity simply runs itself, making it easy for instructors, requiring no extra work for IT, and ultimately helping all students be successful.

Review via browser
Using a web browser (PC or Mac), without any plug-ins, students access the class repository either by logging in directly to Tegrity, by logging in through the institution’s course management system or from Facebook. After a student logs in, he or she is presented with a list of their individual courses and they can start search, navigate and review class moments as needed.

Search for any word presented in class.

Tegrity’s patented search anything technology makes learning efficiency soar. Tegrity enables students to search the course recordings for any word or phrase presented in class as text – whether it was part of a PowerPoint Slide, in a web page or in a computer application and on the screen. The system returns a list of references (with associated thumbnails and accurate titles) to every point where that text was presented in class. The playback starts immediately once a reference point is clicked. Students can also navigate through courses and lectures or drill down the automatically generated visual index to find the right spots.

Analyzing the results of millions of student viewings tells us that while the average lecture is over an hour, the typical student visit is about 15 minutes and highly fragmented. In other words students don’t watch recordings from start to finish. Instead, they jump from idea to idea, repeating the parts that require more time or attention to comprehend.

Students may record
Instructors have the option of allowing students to record as well. Students appreciate the opportunity to record speeches and multimedia presentations to submit assignments, collaborate with classmates, or create and build electronic portfolios. Like instructors, students have the freedom and flexibility to post recordings to be viewed by their instructor from anywhere, anytime – on campus or off – without having to worry about scheduling protocols or being limited to media rooms or fixed hardware.

Facebook Integration
Students using Facebook can easily access Tegrity Campus directly from their facebook account. Rather than accessing the Service though the CMS or logging in through Tegrity, students conveniently click one button inside their facebook page for immediate, secure access to their “My Tegrity page.”

Stream to mobile device
Students can easily access the Service using their mobile device browser. They simply login and navigate “live” between their courses and lectures, then stream their lecture of choice.

Review via iPod, MP3 Player via Enhanced Vodcast or Podcast
Students can literally take classes with them to study when and where their schedules permit. The automatic generation of text and visual indices (Enhanced podcast) make finding and replaying specific points in a lecture a breeze.

Tegrity is the only lecture-capture solution that automatically generates an enhanced podcast (M4B) for every recorded class. This includes the audio track (like a simple MP3 podcast) as well as a full index that includes visual thumbnails and text titles for all the important points within the class. This enables the student to navigate directly to the right spot within the recording.
Tegrity can also automatically generate enhanced vodcast (M4V) for every recorded class. This includes a full motion movie of all information presented in class (PPT slides, web sites, computer applications). It also provides indexed chapters for students to navigate quickly and easily to the right points in the class recording.
