BIO 220 General Microbiology                              

Prerequisite:BIO 103 (Recommended 4 semester hours of Chemistry).


This course covers the fundamental principles of Microbiology including historical perspectives, cell structure and function, microbial genetics, infectious diseases, immunology.

Emphasized topics are distribution, physiology, culture, identi­fication, classification, roles in nature and medi­cine, and disease control of microorganisms.

The laboratory experience includes micro-techniques, distribution, culture, identification, and control.


Two 120 minute laboratories are required.
