Marcum is Outstanding Alumna
LBW Community College named Debbie Ferguson Marcum as the 2012 outstanding alumna at the annual commencement ceremony in Andalusia.
“We recognize the tremendous impact Debbie has on all those around her,” said LBWCC President Dr. Herb Riedel. “She is not one to sit on the sidelines and watch, and instead gets involved in the community to make a positive difference.”
After completing Straughn High School, Marcum attended LBWCC on an academic scholarship and was a member of the Lady Saints basketball team.
She completed her graduate and undergraduate degrees at Troy State University and gained employment in 1988 at PowerSouth Energy Cooperative as a general accountant.
Continuous promotions led to positions of market planner, market research and planning coordinator, and marketing support manager.
Currently, she fills the role of member services manager and is responsible for providing marketing support services to the PowerSouth member systems in residential, commercial and industrial market segments to enhance the relationship of the company with its 20 distribution systems in central and south Alabama and northwest Florida.
Marcum’s involvement in the community includes serving as a board member for the Andalusia Country Club and LBWCC Foundation, president of the City of Andalusia Recreational Youth Sports Board and the Andalusia Area Chamber of Commerce, and volunteering with the First Baptist Church Youth Council and the Andalusia Elementary PTO.
