Truck Driver Training Program starts May 7

Lurleen B. Wallace Community College in Opp offers a Truck Driver Training Program that prepares course participants for entry-level employment as Class “A” commercial truck drivers.

Program graduates will be competent in the technical areas of hours of service regulations, vehicle inspection procedures, basic backing skills, defensive driving techniques, basic driving techniques, and recognition of driving environment hazards.

The program is designed to meet the United States Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration, and Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) recognized skill standards.

The next six-week course starts May 7, 2012, at LBWCC’s MacArthur Campus in Opp. Classes are held Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Interested individuals must complete an application for admission and meet certain enrollment requirements. A limited number of scholarships are available. Enrollment and scholarships are granted on a first-come first-serve basis. Application packets can be picked up at your local Alabama Career Center or in Student Services at any LBWCC campus.
