Hiring boom expected for Gulf Coast

3/17/2014

The article linked below explains an expected boom in hiring with Gulf Coast oil rigs in the next five years. LBWCC's welding and industrial electronics programs prepare students for these high-wage jobs!

Allen Teel, industrial electronics faculty, said, "Gulf Coast contacts indicate hiring approximately 6,500 skilled workers -- not counting general labor. It is not uncommon for our students to take entry level jobs to begin their experience while attending LBW. Most of them move into apprenticeships within a couple of completed semesters if they are hired. At graduation they become full-time technicians."
