DPE officials visit LBWCC
Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education Interim Chancellor Susan Y. Price and Director of Student Services Michelle Sylvester recently visited LBW Community College in Opp and Andalusia.
“We were delighted that Interim Chancellor Price was interested in touring our campuses and seeing first-hand the type of learning environment we offer students,” said LBWCC President Dr. Herb Riedel.
Price, who visited Andalusia as commencement speaker in May, said she put LBWCC on the top of her list of two-year colleges to visit because she was impressed with the level of involvement in graduation.
“The auditorium was filled with people at graduation and I was impressed with the great faculty and excited students,” she said.
“I was absolutely overwhelmed by the hospitality and good spirit I encountered then, and I knew LBW would be one of the first places I wanted to visit.”
Price and Sylvester spent time in several technical departments and interacted with instructors and students while in Opp, were lunch guests at the Opp Rotary Club, and enjoyed a brief reception where they met several faculty and staff in Andalusia.
