A Cappella Choir performing April 3, LBWCC in Andalusia
LBW Community College in Andalusia will welcome the Gadsden State Community College A Cappella Choir in a free public performance at 9:45 a.m. on April 3, 2014, in the Martha and Solon Dixon Center for the Performing Arts.
“Our students, faculty and staff are excited about welcoming these young vocalists to our campus,” said Diaon Cook, LBWCC director of student activities and cultural diversity.
The choir is comprised of students from all disciplines at Gadsden State, with many continuing their studies to pursue careers in performance or music education. Currently under the direction of J.T. Harrell, the choir has been representing the College since 1966.
Performances typically include a variety of music, including classical, sacred, spiritual, and contemporary selections. The choir sings in the St. Olaf Tradition, a technical type of sound that is clear with crisp diction giving an impression that the entire group is one voice.
Dr. William O. Blow, Gadsden State acting president, said he is proud to have the students visit Andalusia.
“We are always proud to have our students perform and share their talents in various venues. As representatives of our College, they continue to entertain audiences and uphold the professional tradition built over the past 48 years.”
